Ukrainian Prime Minister Criticizes U.S. Extension of Sanctions Waiver for Russia
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelensky strongly criticized the U.S. extension of sanctions waivers for Russia, arguing that it is necessary to maintain pressure on Russia. While the U.S. cited the need to alleviate energy supply shortages, Ukraine emphasized the importance of continued support and sanctions to protect its security and sovereignty.
On the 19th, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelensky strongly criticized the U.S. decision to extend sanctions waivers for Russia. The U.S. explained that this extension is a measure to alleviate energy supply shortages due to the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict. However, Prime Minister Zelensky argued that this is unacceptable. Ukraine, which has been in need of continuous support since the Russian invasion, is concerned that the U.S. extension of sanctions waivers could reduce pressure on Russia. Prime Minister Zelensky appealed to the international community to maintain strong sanctions against Russia and called for continued support to protect Ukraine's security and sovereignty.
